I'm looking for these products.

This is a list of products that I want. For some reason, I can't find them anywhere. Perhaps it's because I don't know where to look or perhaps it's because these products just don't exist. If you happen to know where I can get any of these, please let me know.

ACR
I called this an "ACR" because what I need is a VCR but for audio/radio. I want to be able to record radio shows just like I can record TV shows with my VCR. I want to schedule what show to record, what channel, what time, etc. For example, Paul Harvey's "Rest of the Story" is my favorite radio show. But I don't know how to schedule my cassette recorder to record it.

Digital Clock/Radio
I want a clock radio that has a digital display for the clock AND a digital display for the radio.

Digital Answering Machine with the following features:
• top quality digital sound
• four mailboxes, each with their own outgoing message
• press a single digit to go into a mailbox
• full date & time stamp on all incoming messages
• LED call counter
• ability to turn off the speaker on outgoing annoucements, so I don't have to listen to myself talk every time someone calls

The best quality digital machine I've found so far is the AT&T 1725. While this unit does have 4 mailboxes, each mailbox does NOT have its own announcement. So when someone presses '2' for that mailbox, they just hear another beep and they have to leave a message; they do not hear another outgoing message for that mailbox. I need to be able to set it up so that my main outgoing message can say "press 1 for this info, press 2 for this info, etc.". Then if you press 1, you hear another announcement, or if you press 2, you hear that announcement, etc. I also need it so that you only press a single digit to get to the other mailboxes. I have a unit that has the 4 separate annoucements but it requires you to press the pound sign and then the number; that's no good. The AT&T does have the day and time stamp, but I need a date & time stamp (not just the day). Sometimes I'll save an important message for a month and it's not good enough to know that the message was taken on Tuesday; I need the date.

Scheduler Program
I'm looking for two specific pieces of functionality in a scheduler:

  • I want to be able to use Windows Task Scheduler to schedule a document to be printed. Specifically, I've got an Excel spreadsheet that I need to be printed every Sunday morning. But I can only figure out how to open the spreadsheet; I can't figure out how to get it to print automatically.

  • I want to be able to schedule a program to run, but I want a small dialog box to pop up first, prompting me to run it. Then I can click OK to run it, or Cancel. For example, there's a good radio show on the internet weekly. I want to schedule RealAudio Player to run at that time, but sometimes I'm not here at my computer. So, I just want the dialog box to pop up saying "the radio show is starting now". Then I can click OK to proceed with RealAudio Player or Cancel.

I used to do both of the above functions just fine in a program called Plug-In for Windows made by Plannet Crafters. They wrote Plug-In for Windows to "fill the holes" of Windows 3.1. It had a lot of cool functionality that Windows 3.1 should have had but didn't. To print a document, I'm guessing that the program simply opened the document, simulated the keystrokes Alt-F P (which will print in most Windows applications), and then closed the document. It was even a very handy program in Windows 95. But Plannet Crafters no longer develops that program. Here is their info:

Plannet Crafters, Inc.
P.O. Box 450
Alpharetta, GA 30239-0450
73040.334@compuserve.com
www.plannetarium.com

So I'm looking for a current program that is actively developed, supported and maintained. Note that I do have Plug-In v2.60 installed, and it runs fine. But if I could find a way to do the above things using Windows Task Scheduler, then I wouldn't have to run Plug-In anymore.

Telephone/Computer Headset
I want a headset that I can plug into my phone and into my PC (probably using some kind of adapter so that I can still use my PC speakers). Then I want a switch so I can easily flip from "Phone" to "PC". The point here is that I don't want to have to have two headsets. I just want to use the same one, whether it's for my telephone or for my PC.

01-May-2003 UPDATE: Search completed. I found a Labtech Dialog-301 at Overstock.com. It works great.
